The trout fishery on the Androscoggin River in the Gilead to West Bethel area provides the opportunity to catch rainbow, brown, and brook trout. The fishery is best from mid-May to July 1, and in September & October. In July and August the water temperatures rise to a level that are potentially harmful to fish that are hooked and trying to escape, so our guiding focus in these months is the lower Andro for smallmouth bass. This is a beautiful area of the state and a very scenic float for a half day experience.
